Columbia St. Mary's Hospital - Milwaukee, WI

Columbia St. Mary’s Hospital is a new facility that sits on a bluff overlooking Lake Michigan.  At 10 stories high it is visible from downtown Milwaukee and along the shores of Lake Michigan.  This is APW’s largest Dri Design job covering 130,000 sf with 13,000 panels.  APW was originally awarded this project which, at the time, included ACM on 38,000 sf of wall area.  Due to the ability of Dri Design to provide a state of the art pressure equalized rainscreen panel system with less pieces and parts to factory and field assemble, the product was changed to Dri Design.  A further change was made replacing 92,000 sf of precast with Dri Design due to the panel’s rainscreen design and economies of installation.  APW also furnished and installed all furring and insulation outboard of the weatherbarrier.

Covance Laboratories - Madison, WI

The Covance Laboratories addition used a combination of aluminum composite and corrugated metal. One of the key requirements included constructing a system where exterior sealant was not used - but the panel system was still curved. Strang Architects recently completed the Novagen project where APW used Sobotec's SL-2000 for the canopies and fascias. Strang again used this product for the curved canopies and curved ellipse that slopes from South to North on the top of the building. The vertical columns in the precast portion of the building are wrapped with curved composite panels. Horizontal corrugated panels were used on the screen throughout the project in conjunction with the composite panels.

Marshfield Clinic - Rice Lake, WI

The new Marshfield Clinic Ambulatory Surgical Center MOB in Rice Lake, WI utilized Dri-design Architectural Wall Panels in a custom silver color as selected by the architect. The building’s design by Design Build Contractor Marshall Erdman of Madison WI, incorporated large 4’-0” x 4’-0” panels in .080” aluminum on the façade of the curved mechanical penthouse to provide significant architectural appeal. Dri-deign Architectural wall panels were also used on the fascias of the oversized drop off canopy and other small entrance canopies. Additionally, metal soffit panels in an exact color match were used underside of each canopy to create a building entrance with gentle and pronounced architectural appeal to patients and staff.

Memorial Hospital - Oconomowoc, WI

APW used products from 4 different manufacturers on this project. BR-28 from Morin was used horizontally on the screen wall. Alply's 0.125 aluminum plate was used at the entrance canopy and column covers. The plate system allowed for curving the fascia, which provided a sloped sill at the top of the system. Alply's 9/16" snug seam with a 2" thick foam core was used to fill in between the windows on the new addition. All Fab's paper honeycomb core was used on the existing building to cover over and fill in between the windows. All Fab duplicated Alply's panel in appearance by using a painted metal reveal strip as compared to Alply's extruded silicone grey gasket. All Fab was required on the existing area because the existing condition only allowed for 1" core and did not require extra insulation. All of the products were painted with Kynar in a custom white.

Mercy Medical Center - Oshkosh, WI

Mercy Medical used a combination of aluminum composite and foam core wall panels. The foam core panels were used at the mechanical penthouses and the ambulance garage. These areas took advantage of the insulating core and the prefinished interior skin. All of the remaining areas used aluminum composite instead of an air barrier and insulated wall substrate. The joints on the foam core panels were dry and used a concealed gasket at the horizontal joints and an exposed gasket at the vertical joints. All of the aluminum composite panel joints were sealed with exposed silicone.
